What is Cancer?

Cancer is the uncontrollable growth of abnormal cells in the body.Cancer develops when the body's normal control mechanism stops working.This is due to the reason that old cells do not die but grow out of control instead,forming new,abnormal cells.And these excessive extra cells may form a mass tissue,called a tumor.Although,some cancers such as leukemia do not form tissues(tumors).

 So What Are The Most Common Types of Cancer?

Cancer may occur anywhere in the body.In Women,Breast Cancer is one of the most common.While in Men,it's Prostate Cancer.On the other hand,Lung and Colorectal Cancer affect both genders(Men & Women)in large numbers.

There are five(5) main categories of Cancer and these Include:

(1) Carcinomas Cancer which begins in the skin or tissues that line the Internal organs

(2) We have the Sarcomas Cancer Which develop in the bone Cartilage,fat,muscle or other connective tissues.

(3) Leukemia which begins in the blood and bone marrow.

(4) The Lymphomas which starts and develops in the human Immune System.

(5) And Finally,The Central Nervous System Cancers which develop in the brain and spinal cord.

So How Is Cancer Treated?

Treatment option obviously depends on the type of cancer that afflicts the patient,it's stage,if the Cancer has spread as well as the patients general health.The goal of all treatment is to kill as many cancerous cells as possible while reducing damage to normal cells nearby.

Advances in technology makes this possible and also have the potential to provide an ultimate cure in the future.

The Main Treatments are three(3)and they Include: 

*Surgery: For Directly Removing the Tumor.

*Chemotherapy: This Involves the use of Chemicals to kill Cancer cells which of course has certain side effects such as the loss of hair.

*Radiation Therapy: Which Involves the use of X-Rays to kill Cancerous Cells.
